Application for Rail Baltic phase 2 to be submitted2016-01-27
Civitta Estonia is engaged in the composition of Rail Baltic phase 2 application to be submitted in the CEF 2015 transport cohesion call in mid February.
Phase 2 is the continuation of Rail Baltic phase 1 application submitted and funded in 2015. The phase 2 application covers additional studies and works to be implemented during the years 2016-2020 on the Rail Baltic corridor. The total budget for phase 2 is ca 245 million Euros, out of which 210 million Euros is the aid applied for.
The objective of the Rail Baltic project is to develop a double track mixed traffic fast conventional electrified railway with a maximum speed of 240 km/h covering all three Baltic States and connecting them with Western European rail network. The total cost of the project is 4.8 billion Euros and the project is expected to be completed by 2025. The applicants are RB Rail AS and corresponding ministries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
