Results of the study support the implementation of the parenting programme “Incredible Years” in Estonia2016-06-28
The Ministry of Social Affairs, in cooperation with the National Institute for Health Development, is piloting the “Incredible Years” (IY) evidence-based parenting programme in Estonia from 2014 to 2017. The programme aims to help parents develop effective coping strategies in order to deal with children’s behavioural problems and development issues. The analysts of Civitta Estonia carried out a study in order to identify the potential impact of implementation of the “Incredible Years” parenting programme and the possible associated costs and benefits in the context of Estonia.
As a result, there was developed a methodological and analytical model to evaluate the cost-efficiency of the “Incredible Years” programme in the context of Estonia. Based on the existing data, a cost-benefit analysis of programme implementation was carried out. Even though the chosen methodology and missing data concerning the context of Estonia, set some limits to the analysis, it can be claimed, that the implementation of the programme in Estonia is cost-effective. Thus, the results of the analysis support the commencement of regular and systematic implementation of the programme in Estonia.
