Analyzing tourism potential in Latvia2016-06-20
Civitta Latvia conducted a market research project in tourism sector for State Tourism Development Agency – a part of Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.
The goal of the project was to investigate outgoing tourism of 8 European countries (Great Britain, Norway, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Estonia) and to identify tourist experience and opinion about Latvia as a potential target for the future travels.
Project had two parts. First part included desk research aimed to generally describe the country, its political and socio-economic situation, identify typical tourist habits such as preferred transport, seasonality, main segments, most popular means of obtaining information, most visited countries, forecasts, etc.
Second part of the project was primary information gathering. In just two-weeks time specialists of Civitta surveyed 7 500 tourists from 8 countries (800 - 1200 respondents from each of the country). Survey helped to define traveler's profile, identify their needs and choice criteria for different destinations, understand their previous travel experience, and find out their perception of Latvia as a tourist destination, all in all helping to define Latvia SWOT and strategy for attracting inbound tourists from these 8 countries.
All the presentations with data analysis in Latvian language are published on website of Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.
