Civitta continues supporting startups ecosystem and entrepreneurial community in Moldova2017-02-22
Civitta Moldova and Estonia continue their endeavor to support the Moldovan startup ecosystem by organizing impactful events for the entrepreneurial community!
Civitta in partnership with Garage48 (Estonia) and Dreamups Innovation Campus (Moldova) organized a web and app development hackathon on February 17-19th 2017, in Chisinau, Moldova. The event is part of a broader project called “Accelerating Moldova” aimed at building the Moldovan startup community and the first acceleration program in Moldova.
During 48 hours, 10 teams formed of project managers, developers, marketers and designers have worked intensively to develop initially pitched ideas into working prototypes which were pitched on Sunday evening. Experienced mentors from Garage48 and Civitta Estonia were there during the weekend to support the teams in their quest to develop prototypes of their business ideas.
The grand winner of the event was the team Lockstache, an Access Management system that easily integrates with most popular smartlock providers available on the market and turns the phone into a secure, unique digital key, able to lock/unlock, grant or revoke user access to a given door. The two runner-ups were ‘’Simple training’’ - a web based platform which offers a client-specific package, where the client is a pharmacy chain which works with certain brands, and ‘’DriveInPay’’ - which is the first startup in Moldova that develops solutions dedicated to “touchless” payment using car plate recognition that is linked to one’s mobile wallet. The mobile friendly app helps drivers save time wasted in queues by planning the entire service activity with one click.
The winners were awarded with fully covered costs to attend the Latitude59 conference in Tallinn, Estonia, participation in acceleration program in Dreamups Innovation Campus (Chisinau) and special prizes from the mentors.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia under the Fund of Development and Humanitarian Aid.
