CIVITTA Challengers - Amelia Elena Pirvu

We have asked Amelia Elena Pirvu - a consultant from CIVITTA office in Romania - to share her thoughts on this.

The idea of CIVITTA is the Challenger Advisory. What does it mean to you to be a challenger consultant and how do you feel this challenger spirit translates to your work?

In my opinion, the Challenger Advisory concept matches the perspective as with regard to my professional development path. I am an urban planner with a specialization in strategic planning, focusing on local and territorial sustainable development processes. My occupation requires to always keep up with the latest trends, to be in continuous professional and personal development, to constantly develop my creativity, and to generally being curious. Speaking of creativity, the following keywords/ideas are the most relevant to express how the challenger spirit translates to my work:

I believe that all of the above are of crucial importance in terms of an integrated approach as regards the process of developing and implementing our projects, having a strong impact in the relation with our clients, and being open to always look for new opportunities.

Tell us a bit about your life outside of work. Are your hobbies along the same Challenger lines?

Yes, I think they are. Outside of work I like to focus on my personal development through activities that help me develop my time-management techniques, creativity, and skills, such as drawing/graphic design and craft projects. More than relaxation activities, I see these as instruments through which I manage to develop my focus and also to enhance the level of my creativity in order to be able to be more connected and open to new experiences. Moreover, I enjoy traveling and discovering new places, which I consider is a very delightful way to combine both exploring new experiences and a deeper understanding of the things I already know. I consider that the effects of these interests are for the benefit of my personal performance, but they also help me grow in order to reach different goals in my professional career.

What would you advise a young consultant starting her or his career in Romania?

I would advise a young consultant the following:

• To be curious;
• To have a positive mindset;
• To be persistent;
• To always be open to new experiences – any new experience could be linked to a new development opportunity (professional or personal);
• To communicate as effectively as possible and to seek valuable feedback.
