Behind the scenes series – Anna Rolska

Anna Rolska
Anna Rolska Senior HR Specialist

Anna Rolska is Senior HR Specialist at Civitta Ukraine, supporting public-sector teams and strengthening people-focused processes across the office. Anna joined Civitta almost three years ago and has since become a key point of support for Team Leads and Managers, helping build an open, flexible, and supportive work environment.

How did your journey at Civitta begin, and how has it evolved?

My path into HR wasn’t linear. I actually began as an English teacher. After several years, I felt the need to explore something new and moved into recruitment, first as a freelancer and then as an HR Generalist. When Civitta approached me about an opening in the Public stream, I had two small children and needed flexibility.

Civitta offered exactly that. Moving from a small local agency to an international company felt like both a challenge and a natural next step. Today, I support our Public stream and help create the conditions for our people to do impactful work.

What makes Civitta unique compared to other companies?

Civitta strikes a rare balance, people-oriented and results-driven at the same time. We value openness, curiosity, and honest communication.

What impressed me most is how much attention we pay to hiring and supporting people. We don’t measure commitment by hours; we measure it by impact. That mindset creates trust, and trust creates space for people to thrive.

What part of your role do you find the most fulfilling and impactful?

The most fulfilling part is seeing how business goals and people’s well-being can work together not against each other. HR is often viewed as serving the business first, but at Civitta, people genuinely matter. I see how thoughtfully we hire and how deeply we care about each individual’s experience.

Supporting our Public teams is especially meaningful. Many of them contribute directly to Ukraine’s recovery and development. When I can help someone feel supported, valued, or simply heard, I know I’m indirectly contributing to the work they do for the country. That sense of shared purpose is incredibly rewarding.

What has been a defining moment of your experience here?

A moment that truly stayed with me was attending the Human Capital Forum in Ukraine just a few months after joining.

Watching our young Consultants present research on stage alongside Ministers made me realize how real and far-reaching Civitta’s impact is. It was the moment I felt, “Yes, I’m part of something important.”

What advice would you give to someone considering joining Civitta or building a career in HR?

My biggest advice is simple: be yourself. Civitta values authenticity more than perfect answers. If this is the right place for you, your honesty and openness will shine through. I also want to highlight something I’ve learned as a mother of two: you don’t have to sacrifice your family to build a meaningful career. Flexibility, understanding leadership, and a culture built on trust make it possible to be both a committed professional and a parent.

That balance is rare and incredibly empowering. And finally, success at Civitta isn’t limited to the partner track. I’m not a consultant; I’m a specialist, and I have found growth, purpose, and fulfillment here. Civitta creates room for different talents and different paths. You can succeed here by being curious, responsible, and true to who you are.
