How Civitta Ukraine is helping advance SME digitalization

A digital maturity framework for small and medium-sized businesses is a comprehensive system that helps entrepreneurs assess their level of digitalization, receive personalized recommendations, and plan their own digital transformation. The framework was presented in Kyiv on November 14th.

The event was organized by the Diia.Business network of entrepreneur support centers in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the Office for Entrepreneurship and Export Development, with the support of UNDP in Ukraine and funding from the Government of Japan, and with the participation of Mastercard, UKRSIBBANK BNP Paribas Group, Mercy Corps, and Civitta Ukraine, as well as technology partners — the IT Association of Ukraine, SendPulse, Vchasno, and YouControl.

Why is digitalization not just an option, but a necessity for businesses?

Digitalization not only boosts business efficiency, but also strengthens a country’s economic resilience.

Digital solutions enable companies to:

  • increase productivity and reduce costs through automation,
  • create new jobs and revenue streams,
  • drive innovation and increase the added value of products,
  • enhance competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

EU countries with the highest levels of business digital intensity such as Finland (51.9%), the Netherlands (47.6%), Malta (45.3%), and Sweden (41.1%), demonstrate that digitalization directly correlates with GDP growth, employment, and economic resilience, even in times of crisis.

Civitta Ukraine acted as the analytical partner of the initiative, developing the digital maturity matrix methodology and the online questionnaire “Digital Maturity Compass,” which help to:

  • assess a company’s digitalization level,
  • receive personalized recommendations for improvement,
  • build a data-driven foundation for business support policies.

Testimonial:

“No strategy can be effectively designed or objectively evaluated without a clear system of indicators. The comprehensive digital maturity matrix and questionnaire that Civitta helped develop will make this possible. The survey will capture the current state of business digitalization and identify areas with the greatest need for support. This will help shape targeted initiatives to address specific weaknesses. Regular reassessment will show whether the strategy’s interventions truly influence the overall level of digital maturity.”
– said Yaroslav Zhydyk, Associate Partner at Civitta Ukraine.

Based on the survey results, an analytical tool for monitoring the progress of business digital transformation across sectors and regions named an Index of Digital Change for SMEs in Ukraine will be created.
