CIVITTA Ukraine was established in 2013, with the hopes of bringing know-how from other offices of the company to help Ukraine’s government institutions and companies adapt to European standards. Today, the local office has grown to 35 professionals, who are based in Kyiv but engage in projects throughout the entire country. Areas of focus for our staff in Ukraine are government reforms adapting foreign practices from abroad, particularly in the areas of health care and transport. We are also collaborating with a local NGO, Easy Business, to promote reforms in the field of regulatory reform and land ownership.
CIVITTA is also active in shaping the country’s startup and innovation ecosystems. The team is involved in launching several incubators and accelerators, such as the Agro Hub. CIVITTA is bringing EU funding programs to Ukraine, and it helped many companies get funding for their innovative ideas through the Horizon 2020 SME Instrument program. The team also works in the corporate sector, with traditional management consulting services, data analytics, and organizational innovation programs.
Ukraine is a large country located at the European Union's frontier, with a total population of over 42 million. Historically the country has struggled to find its way, divided in influence between Russia to the East and Europe to the West. Under its new pro-Western government which took place in 2014, the country is focused on implementing reforms and strengthening national security and institutions, hoping to become a future economic turnaround success story. Although it is home to one of the most well-educated populations in Europe, Ukraine is today still one of the poorest countries on the continent, with an average salary below 300 EUR per month.
Key industries in Ukraine include traditional ones such as agriculture and food processing sectors, transport and logistics, energy, heavy metal, machinery and other manufacturing businesses, as well as newly developing sectors within the scope of the digital economy – software development, fin-tech and related fields.
