CIVITTA enters Sweden and strengthens its businesses in Finland and Estonia with acquisition of Excedea Consulting

CIVITTA, the leading management consulting company in Central and Eastern Europe and Nordics, joins forces with Excedea through the acquisition of its consulting arm. The deal will mark another step in CIVITTA's growth story by adding further competences in the fields of public funding and international growth consulting while strengthening its presence in the Nordics. Stockholm represents the company’s 26th office, spread throughout 17 European countries.

Excedea was established in 2008 and has since been functioning as a one-stop shop for companies and investors willing to grow and attract funding. With over 500 successful funding and international growth projects carried out in more than 40 countries, Excedea has proved themselves as a trusted partner especially for the Nordic growth companies and SMEs.

Excedea’s main focus services are public funding, specifically in the innovation sector (EIC Accelerator, Eurostars and other national funding programs), as well as international growth, mainly focused on export consulting for private clients. In regards to public funding, the company has first-hand experience from European-level funding instruments, as well as Nordic and Baltic local programs. Moreover, Excedea provides a long track record of successfully executing international growth projects in the European as well as Asian markets by providing a combination of experienced Nordic project management and local hands-on teams in the target markets. Excedea’s success has been driven by a talented team of over 20 people in 3 offices — Tallinn, Helsinki and Stockholm.

Through the addition of Sweden in the portfolio, CIVITTA aims to significantly strengthen its presence in the Nordic markets. Under the CIVITTA brand and business model, Excedea will continue to serve its clients while diversifying its service offering (including sustainability, data analytics, etc.), but it will also provide consulting expertise within the CIVITTA group. This acquisition will further strengthen the public funding services presence of CIVITTA but will also contribute to the strengthening of the successful team in Finland and market leader position in Estonia.

“We are very excited about this on multiple levels. Firstly, the deal gives us a fantastic platform to continue our Nordic growth with entry to Sweden. Secondly, we now have access to much stronger competences to service our clients on funding, both at international and local level. Furthermore, as Excedea has been actively facilitating international growth among multiple Nordic companies in the SME sector, we look forward to working with that clientele to grow further with the comprehensive CIVITTA service portfolio.”

—Tuomas Virtanen, Partner CIVITTA Finland

“Joining CIVITTA is a significant opportunity for growth by getting access to a strong brand, complementary service lines and an organization with proven capacity for value oriented client projects. There is excellent potential in CIVITTA’s competences to further serve the Swedish market.”

—Henrik Dagmalm, Partner CIVITTA Sweden (previously Excedea)

“As a boutique Nordic consulting firm, for many years Excedea has had a strong reputation for offering world class management consulting, international growth, and funding services. For us joining forces with CIVITTA is a natural step of evolution, which will further enhance the quality of our services, bring higher value for our clients, and offer new professional growth prospects for our team. The merger offers clear synergies in terms of capabilities, capacity, and markets. CIVITTA and Excedea match very well in terms of the culture and our key values, which was a crucial point of consideration. This is a strategic development for us and we are certain that the merger will benefit everyone involved and especially our clients.”

—Viktor Reppo, Partner CIVITTA Estonia (previously Excedea)
