BTS Hunter — Developing Software to Improve Mobile Network Accessibility in Switzerland
The background:
Our client, a Switzerland-based company, has dedicated over a decade to creating a safer, more connected world through mobile technology. Given Switzerland’s mountainous terrain, numerous areas have weak or nonexistent network coverage.
To address this challenge, we joined forces in building the BTS Hunter solution used to identify optimal locations for building telecom towers.
BTS Hunter consists of two components. The first is an app installed on an Android device, while the second operates on a central computer in the company’s office. Telecom engineers take the device and venture into mountains, tunnels, forests, and other locations, where the app automatically collects data on network signal strength and its coordinates.
Once they return to the office, the engineers connect the device to a computer and upload the data into the BTS Hunter software. It transforms the data into a heat map, highlighting areas with low, medium, and high connection quality.
Using this information, an engineer can strategically plan where to place a new mobile network tower, and the software quickly shows how it will impact coverage in the region. Additionally, BTS Hunter provides an in-depth area analysis, pinpointing the most effective locations for tower installation.
We took on the implementation part of the project, from planning and development to launching and testing. Our close collaboration with the client’s engineers ensured we achieved the best possible results.

Project result:
The BTS Hunter project kicked off in 2019, and we successfully launched the final product within three months. Now, more than five years after its launch, the software serves all of the stakeholders well and without significant rewrites, which demonstrates our ability to deliver quality results quickly.
Our partnership with the client remains strong as we continue to plan and implement new features for the software.
