The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is committed to promoting sustainability and protecting nature. One of IUCN’s key projects involved launching a website to support the Sports for Nature framework, which would harness sports’ potential to inspire significant, nature-friendly actions.

We were tasked to develop the website from scratch within a tight timeframe in preparation for the Paris Olympics 2024, and we were fully equipped to tackle this challenge.

The essence of the project:

The core of the project was to engage sports organizations & communities and make the website an accessible repository of resources for nature conservation.

Our team had a great time exploring the potential collaboration between sports and environmentalism for a larger purpose.

During the website design process, we took inspiration from the framework’s name—Sports for Nature. We aimed to infuse the website with the same dynamic and vibrant energy that sports embody. We carefully developed every aspect to inspire action and evoke a sense of motion, capturing the essence of transformative environmental change.

As our objective was to attract sports organisations to engage with the framework, we approached the design from their perspective, focusing on accessibility and action-oriented elements.

We ensured the website mirrored their values, providing clear, practical resources and tools in line with their role in promoting environmental sustainability.

The entire website was built from the ground up in less than three months. The tight timeline forced us to be creative and efficient, making every phase of the process— from concept to final launch—dynamic and fast-paced. Despite the challenge, our team collaborated closely to ensure that each stage was delivered on time without compromising quality.

Services provided:

  • Research and analysis: We conducted a comprehensive analysis of how sports organisations and environmental frameworks can collaborate, ensuring the website aligns with both sectors.
  • UX/UI design: We developed a dynamic, sports-inspired design highlighting nature protection’s urgency and excitement.
  • WordPress development: We built the website using WordPress for flexibility, responsiveness, and scalability.
  • Interactive elements and animation: We created vibrant visuals and engaging animations to capture attention and keep users involved.
  • Content management system integration: We simplified website management and updating to keep the site relevant and current.
  • User experience optimisation: We ensured the website was easy to navigate and accessible for sports organisations, athletes, and the general public.

Project result:

The website received positive public feedback after its launch and significantly raised awareness about the framework. It effectively engaged its target audience, substantially increasing signatories, including sports organisations, athletes, and the general public.

Sports organisations keen on joining the framework now have access to a comprehensive, one-stop resource providing the necessary instructions, events, and materials for a seamless and guided implementation.
