It is a €115 million EU pilot programme, starting in 2027, that funds up to 100% of costs for SMEs developing disruptive defence technologies like AI, drones and quantum, with grants in four months.

Purpose

  • Accelerate the development and testing of disruptive defence innovations and their market uptake, supporting SMEs, including start-ups and scale-ups, in moving from prototype to operational capability so that technologies reach defence forces within 1–3 years.

Potential applicants

    • SMEs, including start-ups and scale-ups
    • “New defence” players and tech innovators
    •  SMEs, start-ups and scale-ups working on emerging and disruptive defence products, including the adaptation of civil technologies for defence applications.

Funding

    • Up to 100% funding for all eligible costs, from a total budget of €115 million supporting 20–30 projects
    • Expenses incurred up to three months before the closing of the call for applications can also be claimed under a retroactive clause.
