During the EUDIS Defence Accelerator bootcamp in Tallinn, Civitta and EDF (the Estonian Defence Forces) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a framework for cooperation between Civitta and EDF, with the aim of exploring joint initiatives that strengthen ties between Estonia’s defence sector and its defence industry.
Together, Civitta and EDF plan to cooperate on solutions ranging from specialized programs to new technologies and infrastructure. The work is intended to strengthen defence efforts and support long-term stability in the region.
In practice, this means bringing together experts, institutions, and industry representatives to work with real challenges, share knowledge, and turn ideas into concrete projects.

Civitta’s role is to connect defence needs with the innovation ecosystem it already works in by identifying relevant companies and technologies, structuring funding and programs, and helping EDF access solutions it wouldn’t otherwise reach on its own. Under the agreement, EDF will take part in seminars, bootcamps, and other activities organized by Civitta.
By using existing formats like EUDIS and BraveTech EU, Civitta and EDF aim to build a model for effective collaboration between industry and defence, grounded in open dialogue, mutual respect, and long-term value.
“Effective defence innovation starts with a clear understanding of the needs of the Defence Forces and close cooperation with those developing new solutions. Partnerships that connect defence, industry and the wider innovation ecosystem help us identify relevant technologies, explore new opportunities and move towards practical solutions that strengthen our capabilities. We welcome cooperation that supports this process and helps bring the right expertise and technologies closer to Estonia’s needs,”
Ivo Peets
“Cooperation with the Force Transformation Command of the EDF from the very beginning has been important for us to bridge the EU-wide defence innovation ecosystem and Estonia, to strengthen our capabilities and networks. As Civitta’s activities in the defence sector across Europe and Ukraine have scaled a lot over recent years, the MoU is a natural step forward to strengthen our cooperation further,”

Through this partnership, Civitta and EDF will work together to connect defence needs with industry solutions and strengthen regional security. We’ll share further updates on this partnership as it progresses.
