Colourlab AI – designing a web presence for AI-powered color grading

Client Overview:

Colourlab AI is a cutting-edge video color grading software company serving filmmakers, colorists, and content creators. Their suite of AI-powered tools sits at the intersection of professional post-production and emerging technology – a space where technical sophistication and creative identity must coexist. To match the ambition of the product, Colourlab AI needed a web presence that could communicate complex capabilities while visually embodying the world their users inhabit.

The Challenge:

Colourlab AI’s product is technically deep and creatively rich – but presenting that combination on the web without overwhelming or alienating users is a genuine design problem. A website serving professional filmmakers and content creators cannot afford to feel generic, cluttered, or unclear. It needs to earn credibility instantly while guiding diverse audiences – from curious first-timers to experienced colorists – through a range of tools, pricing options, and learning resources.

Our Approach:

Civitta led the full UX/UI design process – from wireframing through to a complete interface design and design system – delivered entirely in Figma for the web platform.

  • Phase I: Visual Direction and Design Language

The foundational challenge was establishing a visual identity that felt native to the world of professional filmmaking – immersive, dark, and rich – without compromising usability. The team developed a high-contrast visual theme using deep backgrounds, vibrant gradients, and purposeful use of color to create an experience that resonates with creative professionals on an aesthetic level while remaining structurally clear.

  • Phase II: Product Architecture and Feature Design

Each software product in the Colourlab AI suite received a dedicated feature page, designed to break down complex technical capabilities into digestible, visually supported narratives. Concise copy, contextual animations, and side-by-side before/after comparisons were used to demonstrate outcomes rather than simply describe features – letting the product speak for itself.

  • Phase III: Pricing, Purchase Flow, and Resource Hub

Subscription and plugin pricing structures were redesigned for transparency and clarity, with intuitive comparison layouts that enable prospective buyers to make confident decisions without needing to seek outside information. In parallel, Colourlab AI’s educational content was reorganised into a unified learning center – making the resource library genuinely useful rather than merely comprehensive.

Results & Impact:

The team delivered a fully designed web platform that positions Colourlab AI as a credible, design-forward leader in AI-powered video post-production. The website communicates technical depth without sacrificing visual impact, and guides users from discovery through to purchase within a cohesive, immersive experience.

The design system established as part of the project provides Colourlab AI with a scalable visual foundation – ensuring consistency as the product suite grows and new content is added over time.

Key Takeaways:

1. Complexity demands structure, not simplification: Rather than flattening Colourlab AI’s technical depth, the design gave it room to breathe through clear information architecture, dedicated product pages, and visual storytelling – making complexity navigable rather than invisible.

2. Pricing clarity is a conversion tool: Transparent, well-structured pricing pages reduce buyer hesitation. Treating the purchase flow as a UX challenge – not just a layout task – directly supports commercial outcomes.

3. A design system turns a project into a platform: Delivering a unified design system alongside the interface means the website can evolve without losing coherence – giving the client a tool, not just a deliverable.
