Motionvibe – fitness app for the US market

Client Overview:

Motionvibe is a white label mobile platform serving gym networks across the United States. The solution enables fitness clubs to offer their members a branded self-service app covering workout tracking, training bookings, progress monitoring, and QR-based building access. Motionvibe’s client portfolio includes major US fitness chains such as OneLife Fitness and Gold’s Gym.

The Challenge:

Motionvibe needed a reliable, scalable mobile development partner capable of rapidly delivering new branded app builds as the platform expanded to new gym clients. Each new deployment required adapting the white label solution to a specific club’s branding, configuration, and requirements – with a turnaround of up to one month per build.

The core product challenge was to create a mobile experience that felt intuitive and engaging for gym members, while meeting the specific expectations of the US market – which differ meaningfully from European standards in terms of UX patterns and user behaviour.

Our Approach:

Civitta applied a UX-first methodology, ensuring that each app build prioritised ease of use and intuitive navigation for end users. Knowing where to place interface elements and how users typically interact with fitness apps allowed the team to make confident design and development decisions without lengthy discovery phases for each new build.

The apps are built as native applications – Kotlin for Android and Swift for iOS – ensuring optimal performance and adherence to platform-specific standards. The backend is maintained by the client; Civitta is responsible for the full mobile application layer across both platforms.

A key part of our contribution was understanding and applying US market conventions, ensuring the product felt native to its audience rather than adapted from a European context.

Results & Impact:

Since the partnership began in 2018, the Motionvibe platform has grown to serve over 500,000 users across its gym network. The client has continued to expand steadily, onboarding new fitness clubs and scaling the platform’s reach across the US market. The white label model – combined with Civitta’s efficient delivery process – has enabled Motionvibe to grow its offering without proportionally increasing development costs.

Key Takeaways:

1. US market specificity matters: UX patterns and user expectations in the United States differ from European norms. Applying the right conventions for the target market is critical to product adoption and user satisfaction.

2. UX expertise accelerates delivery: Deep familiarity with mobile UX best practices allowed Civitta to make fast, confident decisions on interface design – reducing back-and-forth and keeping each build on schedule.

3. White label at scale requires process discipline: Delivering consistent, high-quality app builds for multiple clients within tight timelines demands a well-structured development process. Civitta’s repeatable approach enabled Motion Vibe to scale its gym network efficiently.
