U-TEX project launched to support Ukraine’s textile ecosystem

A new U-TEX project has been launched for Ukrainian business support organizations (BSOs) and other textile-related organizations working with textile SMEs. The initiative focuses on strengthening the capacity of ecosystem players who support textile businesses, particularly in improving export readiness, aligning with EU standards and policies, and enabling long-term sector growth.

Participants will gain access to a structured support program that includes 12 expert-led training and peer learning sessions, a 3-day offline bootcamp in Ukraine, and a study visit to Sweden for direct exposure to industry practices and stakeholder engagement. The program is designed to equip organizations with practical tools, knowledge, and international connections to better support SMEs in entering EU markets.

The project will also contribute to the sectorʼs development through policy recommendations.

These will be shaped in collaboration with stakeholders and based on the expertise of the University of Borås, with a focus on aligning Ukraine’s textile sector with EU standards.

Among the project implementers is Civitta Ukraine, which has extensive experience in supporting BSOs and SMEs through acceleration programs, study tours, and national capacity-building initiatives across Ukraine and the Eastern Partnership region.

“Strong support organizations are key to unlocking the potential of Ukraine’s textile sector. Through this program, we aim to provide them with practical tools and international exposure needed to better support SMEs in their growth and EU integration journey”, said
