METRANS (Polonia) sp. z o.o.METRANS (Polonia) sp. z o.o. is part of the international METRANS Group, specializing in intermodal container transport in Europe. The company develops and operates transshipment terminals, integrating rail and road transport to increase the efficiency and environmental friendliness of supply chains.
The terminal in Gądki near Poznań is one of the key points of intermodal infrastructure in Poland, handling significant volumes of container transport in domestic and international relations.
The objective of the cooperation was to secure funding for the expansion of the intermodal terminal in Gądki under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (measure E2.1.3).
The project involved a comprehensive modernization of the infrastructure, aimed at a significant increase in transshipment capacity, shortening the time of logistical operations, reducing the use of fossil-fuel-powered equipment.
The main challenges included:
Civitta team provided comprehensive support at the application and implementation stages of the project:
Funding secured:
Scope and effects of the investment:
Key operational results: increase in transshipment capacity: from 335,580 TEU/year to 592,378 TEU/year (+77%); shortening the time of a single transshipment operation: from 5 to 3 minutes; increase in storage capacity: from 8,851 TEU to 11,791 TEU.
The project will contribute to:
1. Intermodal projects require a precise demonstration of their impact on capacity and operational efficiency.
2. Aligning investments with green transition goals and transport decarbonization is of key importance.
3. Under the NRRP (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), it is essential to demonstrate both direct business outcomes and broader systemic benefits.
4. The integration of technological solutions (e.g. infrastructure electrification) constitutes a significant element of a project’s competitive advantage.
5. Advisory support covers not only the application stage, but also the implementation and settlement of the project in accordance with institutional requirements.
